President and Executive Producer
Steve Adubato, Ph.D., enjoys a distinguished career as a broadcaster, author, syndicated columnist, distinguished university professor, lecturer and motivational speaker. A trainer and coach in the areas of leadership and communication skills, Steve also served in the mid 1980’s as New Jersey’s youngest state legislator at the age of 26.
Steve currently anchors three television series produced by the Caucus Educational Corporation (CEC) — Caucus: New Jersey with Steve Adubato, an Emmy Award-winning public affairs series; State of Affairs with Steve Adubato, the CEC’s new series providing in-depth analysis of the political, social and cultural issues that impact the everyday lives of New Jersey residents, through compelling conversations with our state's government and industry leaders, policy experts, pundits and journalists; and One-on- One with Steve Adubato, the nightly series that brings viewers in-depth interviews with some of the region’s most compelling personalities, including artists, authors, academics, media personalities, health experts and sports icons. Steve has also anchored many high-profile television specials including an exclusive, live primetime interview with Governor Chris Christie and a primetime special with US Senators, Bob Menendez and Cory Booker.
Executive Producer and Host, Life & Living with Joanna Gagis
Joanna Gagis is the host of Life & Living, a magazine style show that highlights the lifestyle and culture of New Jersey’s citizens and showcases the great destinations and individuals that make New Jersey unique. The program also raises awareness about the important work of corporate and non-profit organizations that are having a significant impact in the state. Life & Living airs on NJTV, New Jersey’s public television station, and on Verizon FiOS1.
Joanna is also Executive Producer of the Caucus Educational Corporation, the non-profit educational television production company that creates regional public affairs programming for some of the country’s most-watched PBS stations (THIRTEEN, WHYY, NJTV), as well as various other public television and cable outlets. Its widely-viewed and enduring series include Caucus: New Jersey with Steve Adubato, One-on-One with Steve Adubato, State of Affairs with Steve Adubato and Life & Living with Joanna Gagis.
Director of Development
For the past 17 years, as Director of Development for the Caucus Educational Corporation (CEC), Mary Gamba has worked closely with Steve Adubato and the CEC fundraising team to develop, guide and oversee the growth and management of the CEC from a small, single-program production company into the multi-media content provider it is today.
Mary’s expertise focuses on client service, team coaching and engagement and overall sponsor relations to ensure satisfaction on all aspects of each partnership. She works closely with the CEC fundraising team to continually meet and exceed the individual needs of current and prospective underwriters.
Mary has also been a major influence on the development and execution of Stand & Deliver: Communication Tools for Tomorrow’s Leaders—a youth leadership program servicing 500 young adults in Newark, Paterson and Union County. Mary works hand in hand with the Stand & Deliver project director and workshop leaders in designing the customizing the curriculum and overall planning and execution of the weekly workshops, symposia and special events, including the annual “Night of Eloquence”, the culminating celebration of the program and largest fundraiser for the organization
Director, Fundraising/Program Development
Maryellen Murphy Liotta was instrumental in the founding and incorporation of the Caucus Educational Corporation (CEC). Over the years, she has served the CEC in various capacities — as Senior Producer of Caucus: New Jersey with Steve Adubato and One-on-One with Steve Adubato, she produced programming that has tackled a wide range of important issues affecting our region, such as the future of our children, the importance of cultural diversity to our state, education reform, environmental regulation, and health care.
Maryellen has been nominated for various industry awards and is the recipient of a New York Film Festival Award, as well as a Gracie Allen Award and Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award for her work with the Caucus Educational Corporation.
Maryellen received a B.A. in Communication from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, and completed graduate studies in Educational Communication and Technology at New York University (NYU).
Currently, she manages fundraising and development efforts for the CEC, which raises more than $3 million annually from corporations and foundations throughout New Jersey and the region.
Director of Marketing/Sponsor Relations
As Director of Marketing, Laura oversees all aspects of marketing strategy, communications and branding for the CEC and its four programs including print advertising, banner advertising, social media, content sharing , email marketing and the website management.
As Director of Sponsor Relations, Laura is responsible for managing the development pipeline of existing and potential underwriters for the CEC. She works directly with c-level executives and decision-makers at organizations ranging from small non-profits to large-scale corporations and institutions in New Jersey who see the value in supporting the CEC’s programming initiatives. Laura is responsible for maintaining these relationships, as well as seeking new and creative ways to engage in new partnerships.
Executive Producer, One-on-One with Steve Adubato and Special Projects
Jen Icklan is an Emmy Award-nominated producer with over 13 years’ experience in the control room and in the field. As Executive Producer at the Caucus Educational Corporation, Jen oversees the production of the PBS program, One-on-One with Steve Adubato, which features CEO’s, non-profit leaders, television personalities, professors, artists, authors and educational innovators. Jen also acts as Executive Producer on special projects, including on-location shoots.
Jen comes to the Caucus Educational Corporation from Bloomberg where she served as a Coordinating Producer for Bloomberg TV’s technology show, Bloomberg West, which covered innovation & the future of business. Prior to Bloomberg, Jen was a lead producer at Fuse News, Fuse TV’s flagship daily music show. Jen started her career at CNN assuming a variety of roles, including the NY Assignment Desk, Anderson Cooper 360 and CNN’s Money Unit, where she honed her skills on some of the biggest stories in the last decade including Hurricane Katrina and the financial crisis.
Senior Producer, Caucus: New Jersey with Steve Adubato & State of Affairs with Steve Adubato
Jacqueline Heyer is responsible for all aspects of Caucus: New Jersey with Steve Adubato and State of Affairs with Steve Adubato, from pre-production through post production. Her duties include researching potential topics and guests, booking guests, preparing guests for programs via pre-interviews, briefing the host on program topics/guests, ensuring the correct content, videos or photos appear during the program, and editing the segments.
In addition, Jacqueline produces for One-on-One with Steve Adubato, Life & Living with Joanna Gagis, Conversations at NJPAC and On The Line.
Jacqueline received her Broadcasting degree from Montclair State University, Class of 2009.

Line Producer, One-on-One with Steve Adubato and New Jersey Capitol Report
As Senior Producer, Lauren Garry oversees the production of Life & Living with Joanna Gagis. Her duties include brainstorming and researching potential topics/guests, booking and delegating guest assignments, editing and proofreading notes, and briefing the host on talking points.
As the Line Producer for One-on-One with Steve Adubato and New Jersey Capitol Report, Lauren is responsible for writing scripts, producing rundowns and graphics, leading the control room crew, editing, and overseeing deliverables.
Furthermore, Lauren produces for each of the CEC's series (One-on-One with Steve Adubato, Caucus: New Jersey, New Jersey Capitol Report and Life & Living with Joanna Gagis) both in studio and on location, by booking and pre-interviewing guests, preparing detailed notes, writing copy, collecting creative assets, briefing the host, and communicating with the host via IFB.
Lauren received her Broadcasting degree from Montclair State University, Class of 2013.
Line Producer, Caucus: New Jersey with Steve Adubato and Life and Living with Joanna Gagis
As a Producer for all CEC programs, Jennifer works in both the control room and in the field by researching potential topics and guests, booking guests, preparing guests for programs via pre-interviews, collecting creative elements, briefing the host on program topics/guests.
As a Line Producer, Jennifer is responsible for writing scripts, creating rundowns, leading the control room crew and ensuring the correct content, videos or photos appear during the program. She also edits Caucus: New Jersey with Steve Adubato and Life & Living with Joanna Gagis segments in post-production, and manages the distribution of these programs to the networks.
Jennifer received her Communications degree from Lake Forest College in May, 2015.
Marketing Coordinator & Associate Producer
As a Marketing Coordinator, Nicole Swenarton is responsible for producing all Caucus Educational Corporation social media (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) to engage audiences in the CEC’s PBS programming. Nicole regularly updates the website with CEC content and assists with creative aspects of the Marketing team’s print and online advertising and public relations campaign.
As an Associate Producer, Nicole assists in all aspects of pre-production and production for One-on-One with Steve Adubato, Caucus: New Jersey with Steve Adubato, State of Affairs with Steve Adubato and Life and Living with Joanna Gagis. She books guests for tapings, conducts pre-interviews, prepares the host for interviews and produces segments on-site. Nicole also is an associate producer for on-location CEC productions at various events across New Jersey.
Nicole received her Television Production degree with minors in Graphic Design and Fine Arts from Seton Hall University in May, 2016.
